The COVID-19 crisis revealed several issues within healthcare supply chains and made people realize the importance of sustainable, open, and flexible practice. Health systems and supply chain providers have increased efforts to redesign and transform their structures and processes. The role of the supply chain in healthcare is affected by the COVID-19 pandemic and focuses on post-COVID-19 changes. Some critical and emerging trends are localized production, strategic inventory management, digitalization, and real-time data deployment. The following critical technologies are also presented within the scope of this study: Blockchain, Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning-based forecasting, as well as IoT applications that are revolutionizing inventory and procurement management. It also covers such issues as diversification of suppliers, regulations, and ethical issues that are imperative in the current business environment. More emphasis is on developing advanced supply networks through collaboration between the public health systems, private players, and governments. Last, the paper offers some recommendations for obtaining healthcare SCs ready for the future that still have to consider the cost aspect and the effect of the future catastrophic health crises. Through an evaluation of new patterns of technology, the healthcare industry has been in a position to take the following lessons in developing a strong supply chain for patient care and public preparedness.
