Banks operate under capital and reporting rules that change continuously, and every rule depends on trustworthy data. Entity identifiers, conformed reference values, and borrower rating inputs determine whether risk-weighted asset calculations and supervisory submissions stand up to scrutiny. Successive Basel regimes, global entity identification standards, and principles for risk data aggregation shift regulatory text into data requirements that professionals must convert into testable rules. Banks that embed governance, lineage, and validation into reporting chains produce submissions that auditors and supervisors can trace from source to filing. Adoption remains uneven, and persistent gaps in data architecture, accuracy, and adaptability keep demand high for specialists who certify data and validate reference values. Professionals who combine experience across several regulatory generations with user acceptance testing skills translate rule language into controls, reduce reporting variability, and sustain audit-ready evidence. The practical significance is direct: reliable data certification protects capital ratios, supports supervisory confidence, and positions the regulatory data and risk reporting specialist as a durable, verifiable profession.
