Abstract:
In this paper, composites of polyvinyl pyrrolidone (PVP) reinforced with different Barium Titanate (BaTiO3) loadings (0, 2,4, and   6) wt. % were obtained via the solution casting method. The optical properties have been investigated. The increase in BaTiO3 nanoparticles ratio in the PVP lead to increase in absorbance and decrease in transmittance. The (PVP/ BaTiO3) nanocomposite exhibited a reduction in energy gap from 3.68 eV for pure PVP to 3.5 eV for allowed indirect transition and from 3.63 eV to 3.48 eV for forbidden indirect transition, upon the incorporation of (BaTiO3) nanoparticles at a concentration of 6 wt.%. The weight percentages of BaTiO3 nanoparticles exhibit a positive correlation with their absorbing factor, extinction factor, index of refraction, real and imaginary components of dielectric constants, and optical conductivity. The results confirm that (PVP/ BaTiO3) films nanocomposites have excellent optical properties, which may encourage the application of these composites in different optoelectronic utilization
