Abstract:
The evolving dynamic of technology crimes has prompted security professionals to call for a more technological approach; The rise of kidnapping for ransom, for example, cannot be effectively combated with weapons or traditional police policing techniques alone, but by examining what supports kidnapping, we may be on the way to finding more innovative solutions to combat it. in the case of kidnappings, it thrives even more with mobility such as vehicles or motorbikes after all kidnappers would not ask their victims to march to their caves the first time they were kidnapped. In this paper, consider the use of Automatic Number Plate Recognition as a powerful tool that could be employed in tracking and identifying criminals, and discuss other applications in other critical areas. Consider using Pytesseract to extract license plates and run the test on Nigerian license plates.
