Digital products and services increasingly mediate access to education, employment, healthcare, and civic life, yet large segments of the global population remain excluded from their benefits because of disability, language, income, geography, or low digital literacy. This review article examines how human-centered product development can serve as a practical mechanism for advancing digital inclusion and equitable access. Drawing on established design frameworks, including ISO 9241-210, the Microsoft Inclusive Design Toolkit, IDEO's Human-Centered Design process, the W3C Web Content Accessibility Guidelines, and IBM's Enterprise Design Thinking, the article synthesizes their core elements and identifies recurring principles that distinguish genuinely inclusive practice from design processes that merely claim to be user-centered. The discussion situates these frameworks within the broader conceptual landscape of inclusion, accessibility, and equity, and considers evidence from organizational practice that illustrates both the promise and the limits of current approaches. Persistent barriers, including resource constraints, fragmented accountability, and the tendency to treat accessibility as a compliance checkbox rather than a design value, are examined alongside strategies for embedding inclusion more durably across the product lifecycle. The article concludes by proposing directions for future research, including longitudinal evaluation of inclusive design outcomes and the development of shared metrics for equitable access across digital industries.
